How to donate to East Cheshire Hospice
Thank you so much for choosing to support East Cheshire Hospice. You may never know how much your gift means, but we know that it will make the world of difference to our patients and their families.
Will you give to our Childhood Bereavement Counselling Programme?
Our Childhood Bereavement programme is more than a counselling service; it is a lifeline for our community. In East Cheshire, there are limited opportunities for children and families to access support following the loss of someone important. Private counselling support can be available at a cost, but there is little specialist bereavement support that families in need can access for free and in the timeframe when it is needed the most. As I am sure you are aware, NHS waiting lists are long and often inaccessible until crisis point. With one child in every UK classroom experiencing the death of someone close by the time they reach 16 years old, there is an urgent need to ensure we have enough funding to support as many young people as we can in the coming years.
Yet, the scope of our impact hinges upon your generosity. Today, you can help the youngest members of our community through the hardest times of their lives.
“When people in my family died I got worried and scared when I heard alarms. I am not as worried now. I can play with what I want and I am sad to stop coming to counselling” – Age 6
Since the launch of the service in 2013, hundreds of children and young people have been supported through funding from a five-year grant and further restricted funds. Unfortunately, all of this money has now been used, which is why we need your support.
It now costs £66,972 a year, on average, for us to run our Children and Young People’s Bereavement service. We receive no government funding for this vital service, so we simply could not give local children the support they need and deserve without the help of people like you.
How your donation can help local children
£25 could pay for resources to help a child build their own memory box, expressing feelings creatively and develop emotional resilience
£100 could pay for families to receive bereavement support together at our family events, where feelings are safely expressed, and memories shared
£405 could pay for a series of 12 counselling sessions where a young person can learn to understand their feelings of grief, in a supportive and embracing environment
