Hit the high notes with a fundraising karaoke competition

 Raise spirits, possibly eyebrows and most importantly money by organising a karaoke competition! Go as big or as small as you like with this idea, from multiple age categories and styles to a more simple setup, you can make a song and dance about it as much a you like. Simply raise money by charging your singers a small fee to enter, and/or by charging an entry fee for your audience. You’ve got to admit, it’s an impressive pitch!

There’s some great ideas and advice here to plan a successful karaoke competition, but this is something that you can really make your own depending on what your capacity is to host it.

Reckon you have got what it takes to become the next Darcey Bussell?

Why not take on the ultimate virtual challenge and hold a dance-a-thon for you and your buddies… Or on your own if you prefer to bust some moves solo!

In the comfort of your own home, set the challenge to dance for 6 hours straight, or 12 or even 24 hours of continued dancing if you’re feeling brave. Team up with some friends and set up a video chat to dance together and keep each other motivated. What’s even better, you could always live stream your event using sites such as YouTube, and link the live stream directly to your Just Giving Fundraising page! That way your supporters can watch your challenge and donate all in the same place.

If you didn’t want to dance in one go, why not spread the challenge out over a week. Commit to dancing for an hour each day whether that’s in the morning, after school or work or in the middle of the night if you are a night owl.

Whichever dancing challenge you decide to take on, start by setting up your Just Giving page here and follow the simple step-by-step process to creating your fundraising page. Make sure to fill in the details about your challenge, set yourself a fundraising target, share your page with friends and family on social media, email, WhatsApp, text… And away you go!

Raise funds and melt faces!

Does a battle of the bands type event sound like music to your ears? Forget that same old, same old talent show. A battle of the bands fundraiser is great way to raise money for charity, give your fundraising cause a cool reputation and have a really good time. The competition element adds even more excitement and passion to the mix!

Raise money by charging an entry fee, selling merchandise and food. You could also get some collection tins from the Hospice and hold a raffle! Another option is to also ask bands to pay a nominal registration fee to perform, but this may depend on what kind of acts you want to get involved and how well you might know them. Don’t forget to ask the performers to say a little bit about the charity they are supporting before they start their set!

It could be a royal rock rampage, or maybe a veritable variety show! If you know some musicians and people in bands at your school, that’s a great place to start by getting them on board. Then you just need a venue, some equipment and lots of promotion!
