Sharing our knowledge
Across the spectrum of health professionals and organisations that we work with, patient-centric care is the clear, common focus. As part of the Hospice’s forward-thinking Five Year Strategy 2013-18, we plan to build up a shared centre of excellence in palliative care for East Cheshire Hospice. Here you’ll find more information on our free monthly Palliative Care forums and Cheshire Hospices Education.
Palliative Education Forums
Started in 2012, the Palliative Education forums at East Cheshire Hospice (PEECH) are open to all health professionals, cancer networks, Cheshire East End of Life care team, related organisations and charities with a keen interest in palliative care, and a passion to develop their knowledge and skills.
Based on requests from the group, we invite local and national speakers to share their knowledge of life-limiting illnesses, the issues and resources available that would help us to deliver high quality, patient-centric care.
Previous speakers have covered:
- Handling a palliative care emergency responsibly and effectively.
- ‘Dying Matters’ and Advance Care Planning.
- Sexuality and body image in End of Life care.
- Opening the spiritual gate.
- Liverpool Care Pathway – findings from the local LCP audit.
- Assessment and management of Neuropathic pain.
If there’s a subject related to palliative care that you’d like us to include at a future meeting or if you’d like to be/suggest a future guest speaker, we’d be pleased to hear from you.
