Education Services - East Cheshire Hospice

Education Services

We are committed to proving the highest quality of care to the people we serve, and across the spectrum of health professionals and organisations we collaborate with, individualised and patient-centred care is a widespread theme.

Education for health professionals remains an important focus, to ensure care is delivered at a high standard. We have met our targets as set out in our previous 5-year strategy, in planning to build up a shared centre of excellence for education and training for specialist palliative and end of life care topics.

Our dedication to do this, also involved the introduction of a Practice Education Facilitator (PEF) role in 2023, and after a recent review of our hospice education offer, we are now working towards our 4-year roadmap, with plans to further develop education and training at East Cheshire Hospice.

We continue to share our passion in all things education and invite you to join our specialist palliative care forum. Established in 2012, PEECH – Palliative Education at East Cheshire Hospice, remains popular throughout a wide network of professionals with a keen interest in palliative and end of life care, with a passion to develop their knowledge and skills.

Previous topics have been delivered by hospice specialists, along with lead nurses and professionals from other organisations we work with. Topics have included:

  • Ovarian cancer and malignant bowel obstruction
  • Neuro oncology – brain tumours
  • Interstitial lung disease
  • Handling a palliative care emergency responsibly and effectively
  • ‘Dying Matters’ and Advance Care Planning
  • Sexuality and body image in End of Life care
  • Opening the spiritual gate
  • Liverpool Care Pathway – findings from the local LCP audit
  • Assessment and management of Neuropathic pain

This online forum is open to all health professionals free of charge. Sessions are recorded and can be shared.

If there are topics you are interested in exploring, please share these with us for future consideration.

If you would like to register to join, please send your request to: training@echospice.org.uk or contact our PEF for further information by telephone 01625 610364.
