FAQs

PLEASE NOTE:
The Collection only covers the postcode areas of CW12, SK9, SK10, SK11, SK12 & WA16.

What time will you collect my tree?

Due to the vast number of trees to be collected we are unable to give an exact time when we will be in your area. Please have your trees out in time for the Collection to start at 9am on Saturday 15th January, we will then collect it at some point over the weekend.

Where should I place my tree?

Where possible leave it on your property close to the road where it can be easily seen. If you have to leave it on the pavement please ensure it is not a safety hazard to others. Please ensure that your tree can be retrieved safely by our volunteers.

How do I make my donation?

You can register your tree online and pay your donation by card or call the customer care number to pay over the phone. These are the easiest, quickest & most cost effective methods for us to accept donations. If you are unable to make a donation this way, please contact the fundraising team on the customer care line – 01625 708939 – and we can discuss the process for making your donation.

Can I donate by leaving cash on the tree?

Please do not leave cash donations on your tree. If you would prefer not to donate via our online forms, please consider sending your Christmas Tree Collection donation via post to the Hospice – East Cheshire Hospice, Millbank Drive, Macclesfield Cheshire, SK10 3DR.

Please make sure that you make cheques payable to East Cheshire Hospice and include your name and address on this donation and specify that it is for the ‘Christmas Tree Collection 2022’.

What is the minimum donation?

The aim of the Collection is to raise money for the Hospice so we hope everyone will donate. There is no minimum donation but please give generously to support your Hospice, its patients and their families – we do not make any profit by simply recycling your tree.

What should I do if you don’t collect my tree?

If you see our vans and they seem to pass by without collecting your tree, they may be on another round. If you have any concerns, you can call us on our Customer Care helpline throughout the weekend, which is 01625 708939.

What if the collection doesn’t happen?

Very rarely, due to things like poor weather conditions (and certain global pandemics!), we have had to cancel the Collection, but don’t worry we just postpone it to another weekend! We will let you know in advance if the Collection will be postponed and when we will collect your tree.

What happens to my tree?

Your tree is taken to a specially set-up depot where it is reduced down in size either by chipping or mulching. This process uses highly specialised pieces of industrial equipment, operated by our partner, ANSA Environmental Services. The resultant mulchings are then taken to a location where they are composted for use as a soil improver throughout Cheshire.

Could I or my company sponsor the Collection?

We are always keen to find new sponsors who can provide monetary or practical help to the Collection. If you would like to help in this way please contact us and talk to our Corporate Fundraising team.

If you have any further questions about the Collection, please call our Customer Care helpline, 01625 708939 or email echtrees@echospice.org.uk
